FORGETAX forging guide

These rules describe this site's browser tribute v0.1. Selected mechanics follow third-party ForgeTax documentation for build 25755699; the tribute has been tested separately and is not a verified account of every current official mechanic.

A day at the forge

  1. Choose a starting relic. Each day supplies three new swords; unoffered swords stay in your inventory.
  2. Select a sword and heat it at the furnace. Move it to the anvil and strike while weighing its value against its break risk.
  3. Stage swords at the tribute station. Staged swords cannot be forged until retrieved. Ring the bell to settle the day.
  4. Meeting the quota avoids an anger increase. Three shortfalls end the run unless a pardon relic protects you. Surviving day 21 clears the contract; endless mode is optional.

Break odds rise with upgrade level

Without relic modifiers, a fresh +0 sword has a 0% break chance. Its ticket weights are 95 damage, 238 hold, 572 success and 95 great success out of 1,000. The reference break curve below applies before relics and Frenzy; integer ticket rounding can slightly change the displayed odds.

Sword value and great success

A fresh sword starts at 320 G. Normal levels multiply its base value by 1.5 per level. Great success adds two levels and multiplies value by 2.5; its value bonus persists. Damage removes one level, with a minimum of +0. Relics can modify value and outcome weights.

Use Frenzy without assuming every hit succeeds

Reaching 10 charge prepares Frenzy; the next strike starts its 4-second window. Breaking is disabled during that window, but damage and hold are still possible. Base hammer timing is 0.64 seconds divided by hammer speed. Relics can extend the window or change the timing.

Relics and tribute decisions

This version implements 26 selected relics and eight slots. The shop trades swords for relics, so buying one reduces the swords available for tribute. The final day asks for 232,000 G. In endless mode each later day's quota grows by 20%.
